CAN YOU HEAR ME NOW?
OR UNDERSTANDING YOUR DOG'S BODY LANGUAGE
Like kids, we often wish our dogs came with an instruction manual. We wish we could understand what our beloved pets are thinking and what they would say if only they could talk. But, as once stated by Andy Rooney, "If dogs could talk, it would take a lot of the fun out of owning one." Besides, they know WAY too much about us - so perhaps it's safest that they can't talk!
At the same time, if we listen carefully with our eyes, they tell us exactly what they're thinking.

"I'm top dog of this pack."
"Let's play!" |
"SQUIRREL!!!"
Dogs understand dogs perfectly through their body language. And you can understand too. Below are some clues to help "hear" what your dog is saying. Each dog may speak a little differently so watch your dog carefully to learn their particular "accent." Look at the total effect of how they hold their body and not just one part. Keep in mind that the "attitudes" below will occur on a fluid continuum. A dog's "emotions" can (and do) fluctuate quickly in response to the world around them - just like us. But with a little time and attention, you too can say, "Se habla DOG!"
